Spencer Wilton

Spencer was born in 1973 and raised in Suffolk. Both he and his sister were keen members of the Essex and Suffolk Pony Club. Spencer competed successfully in Pony Club Area Trials and represented GB as an Individual at the Pony European Eventing Championships.

After leaving school he went as a working pupil to Lucinda Green. His career focused on Eventing until a chance meeting at Badminton with Carl Hester. He then moved to Carl’s yard and dressage became his career.

Success was quick to follow when Spencer started riding Fantastic Elastic, on whom he won the Elementary National Championships in 1999.  He was awarded the TASS 2012 Scholarship for the most talented athletes with Olympic potential.

From then on Spencer enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame.  In 2006 he beat two British team members to win his first Grand Prix Special whilst competing at his first international big tour at Hartpury College CDI.  Later the same on the year Spencer was selected to ride for Britain in the Nations Cup team at Hickstead CDIO.  At the National Dressage Championships that year he was a close runner up for the National Title and he travelled to his foreign international competition, Saumur CDI, where he won the Grand Prix and the Special.  In 2007, he became National Champion with Dolendo.
